Dog & Cat Sterilization in Singapore

Endoscopy involves using special flexible or rigid “tubes” with a camera and light source to non-invasively examine various parts of the body to diagnose growths and tumours, inflammatory disease, remove foreign bodies/stones and obtain biopsy samples.

Laparoscopy, also known as keyhole surgery, is another option for pet owners who want less pain and faster recovery for their beloved furkids. It is a minimally invasive surgical option with less pain, smaller wounds and faster recovery. The procedure uses tiny video cameras (endoscopes) and fine instruments via tiny incisions. This procedure is performed by our Principal Veterinarian, Dr Brian Loon, who has been performing endoscopy and laparoscopy since 2014.

Our orthopaedic department is led by our Principal Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Brian Loon. We perform various bone surgeries such as:

  • Femoral head ostectomy (FHO) for severe hip dysplasia or hip dislocation/ luxation
  • Toe or leg amputation

Orthopaedic surgeries are performed in our surgery suite reserved for sterile procedures. Our veterinarians also trained and equipped to perform various pain management techniques such as epidural anaesthesia, local nerve block anaesthesia, fentanyl patches, continuous rate infusions (CRIs) and acupuncture to ensure a pain-free and smooth recovery. Our hospitalisation facilities are catered for animals of all sizes to provide a peaceful environment for recuperation.

Post-operative care including initial activity restriction and subsequent physiotherapy is essential in ensuring a successful post-surgery recovery. Our veterinary team will work closely with pet owners through this process.

What surgeries are performed at Amber Vet?

Examples of surgeries we perform:

Please call us for more information on particular surgeries.

What can I expect during the admission process?

All pets undergoing surgery will receive a thorough pre-surgery check up to fully understand your pet’s health and any pre-existing medical conditions. Owners will be guided through the surgical procedure, potential risks/complications as well as post-operative care to expect.

A pre-anaesthetic blood test is recommended for all pets prior to anaesthesia or surgery. This assesses liver and kidney function, red blood cell levels and blood clotting function. This allows us to thoroughly assess your pet and provide you the assurance that risks of anaesthesia and surgery are minimised.

Important notes:

  1. The admission process is expected to take about one hour.
  2. The owner registered in our accounts must be present to sign permission forms. Please call us to make prior arrangements if another representative will be present at admission instead.
  3. A deposit of 50% of the estimated cost of the procedure will be collected at admission.

What is done to ensure my pet’s safety and comfort during surgery?

When monitored intensively, the risk of general anaesthesia is generally very minimal in both young and old pets without severe organ dysfunction. All our patients under anaesthesia are closely monitored by a dedicated nursing staff as well as advanced equipment to monitor breathing rate, heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, ECG, body temperature and carbon dioxide levels in the breath. This ensures that your pet remains as safe as possible during the entire procedure.

We are equipped with the Covidien ForceTriad ™, a human-grade electrocautery/ blood vessel sealing machine that makes precise surgical incisions with less bleeding and seals blood vessels, thus minimising overall blood loss and surgical time, especially useful in surgeries such as large tumour removal, splenectomy and laparoscopic spay.

At Amber Vet, we provide sterilisation (also known as neuter for males or spay for females) for dogs, cats as well as small animals such as rabbits.

In addition to standard open abdominal surgery, we also provide minimally invasive keyhole surgery (laparoscopy) for spays, as well as neuters for testicles that are undescended in the abdomen. (Testicles that are not retained in the abdomen, i.e. retained in the groin or located normally in the scrotum, cannot be performed laparoscopically). Find out more about minimally invasive laparoscopy (keyhole) surgery.

Dental COHAT

Oral health is important for pets. At Amber Vet, we provide more than just routine dental scaling and polishing. We perform Dental COHAT (Complete Oral Health Assessment and Treatment) – which includes full mouth dental x-ray to detect any decaying abnormal teeth (including hidden teeth roots) which are not visible to the naked eye.

Root canal treatment (endodontics) is available at Amber Vet for pet owners who want to save their pet’s chipped or fractured teeth that are functionally important such as canine (fang) teeth and chewing molars/premolars (carnassial teeth).

Read more about Root Canal Treatment here.

Orthodontic dental treatment involves the correction of misaligned (maloccluded) teeth. Unlike in humans, we do not perform orthodontic treatment for cosmetic reasons. Malocclusion in dogs and cats result in difficulty chewing well, and importantly pain due to inability to teeth causing ulcers on the gums/hard palate, which can result in nasal/sinus infections if severe. These issues are often under-diagnosed, with the canine teeth most commonly affected.

Dog breeds predisposed to malocclusion include long-nosed (dolichocephalic) breeds such as the dachshund, collie, greyhound, Italian greyhound, whippet and Afghan hound due to their narrow lower jaws resulting in linguoversion of canine teeth, where the lower canines are positioned too narrowly and rub on the hard palate (roof of the mouth). Short-nosed breeds also commonly have malocclusion issues due to their shortened lower jaw (overbite), including the shih tzu, boxer, bulldog, chow chow, lhasa apso, pekingese and pug.

There are a wide variety of procedures to correct malocclusion, such as temporary crown extension, power chain, inclined plane devices, expansion screws, or crown shortening with vital pulpotomy. The choice of technique will depend on a thorough assessment by our veterinarians, led by our principal veterinarian Dr Brian Loon.

Prosthodontics involves the fitting of artificial replacements for the crowns of teeth. This is commonly done on teeth that have compromised crown structure, making it prone to damage when chewing. Chipped/fractured teeth that have had root canal treatment performed are the most common cases to have a prosthetic crown considered.

The prosthetic crown is usually made of alloy metal, providing superior strength and resistance to biting forces compared to the original tooth structure. This involves a minimum of a 2-step process about 2-3 weeks apart. The first step involves preparing the tooth to receive the prosthetic crown by carefully shaping it with fine burs, followed by creating a detailed impression of the shaped tooth. This impression is then sent to a laboratory to custom manufacture the prosthetic crown. When the crown arrives a few weeks later, a second shorter anaesthetic procedure is then needed to fit the crown on the tooth and seal it in place. With good general dental care and avoidance of chewing on very hard objects, the prosthetic crown can be expected to last many years.

Dog Sterilization Procedures at Amber Vet

Dog Sterilization in Singapore

Sterilization is an important step in responsible pet ownership, helping prevent unwanted litters and reducing the risk of certain health and behavioural issues. If your dog is still a puppy, sterilization is generally recommended at around six months of age, before reaching sexual maturity. At Amber Vet, our experienced veterinarians perform sterilization procedures for both male and female dogs with care and precision, ensuring your pet’s safety and comfort throughout the process.

Amber Vet|Surgery – Sterilisation

Male Dog Sterilization (Neutering)

Neutering your male dog helps prevent unwanted breeding and reduces certain health and behavioural issues. At Amber Vet, our experienced vets perform two types of neutering techniques to suit your dog’s needs:

This is the most common and reliable method for neutering male dogs. An incision is made at the base of the penis to remove both testicles. Recovery typically involves at least 7 days of restricted activity and pain management to ensure proper healing. Our vets at Amber Vet are experienced in performing open abdominal neutering safely and effectively for dogs of all sizes and breeds.

Laparoscopic neutering is a minimally invasive technique, but it is only suitable in certain cases, such as when a dog has abnormally retained testicles in the abdominal cavity. This approach uses small incisions and a camera to locate and remove the testicle(s) from the abdomen. While it offers less pain and faster recovery, its use is limited to these specific situations. Our vets at Amber Vet are skilled in performing laparoscopic surgery with precision and care, ensuring your pet experiences minimal discomfort and a smooth recovery.

Amber Vet|Surgery – Sterilisation

Female Dog Sterilization (Spaying)

Spaying your female dog is an important step in preventing unwanted pregnancies and reducing the risk of serious health issues such as uterine infections, pyometra and certain cancers. At Amber Vet, our experienced veterinarians offer two surgical options, carefully tailored to your pet’s needs:

This traditional method involves making an incision of 5–12 cm along the abdomen to remove both the ovaries and uterus. The incision is closed in several layers with sutures, and recovery usually takes 2–3 weeks with restricted activity. Our vets at Amber Vet are highly skilled in this technique and ensure comprehensive pain management and safe anaesthesia throughout the procedure.

Laparoscopic spaying is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional spay surgery, offering smaller incisions, less discomfort, and faster recovery. In this technique, only the ovaries are removed (a procedure called ovariectomy) through 2–3 tiny incisions (0.5–1 cm) using a camera and specialised instruments. Removing the ovaries eliminates the source of reproductive hormones, which means the uterus will no longer undergo hormonal changes, preventing heat cycles and pregnancy. The uterus remains in place but becomes inactive and typically does not pose a health risk once the ovaries are gone. The wounds are closed with minimal suturing, reducing post-surgical pain.

Cat Sterilization in Singapore

Sterilization is an important part of responsible pet ownership, helping to prevent unwanted litters and reduce risks of certain health and behavioural problems. If your cat is still a kitten, sterilization is generally recommended at around six months of age, before they reach sexual maturity. At Amber Vet, our experienced veterinarians perform safe and precise sterilization procedures for both male and female cats, prioritizing your pet’s comfort and well-being every step of the way.

Amber Vet|Surgery – Sterilisation

Male Cat Sterilization (Neutering)

Neutering your male cat helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces certain health and behavioural issues. At Amber Vet, our experienced vets perform the standard neutering technique, which is quick, effective, and well-suited for most cats.

This common method involves making small incisions directly on the scrotum to remove both testicles. It is a straightforward procedure with a typically fast recovery time and minimal discomfort. Our vets at Amber Vet are experienced in performing this surgery safely and effectively for cats of all sizes.

Laparoscopic neutering is a minimally invasive option but is only used in specific cases, such as when testicles are retained inside the abdomen. Using small incisions and a camera, our vets can precisely locate and remove these hidden testicles. While offering less pain and faster recovery, this method is reserved for these special circumstances. Our Amber Vet team is skilled in laparoscopic techniques to ensure your cat’s comfort and smooth healing.

Amber Vet|Surgery – Sterilisation

Female Cat Sterilization (Spaying)

This technique involves a single abdominal incision to remove the ovaries and usually the uterus. While still an effective and safe procedure, this method involves a larger incision and typically a longer recovery time than laparoscopic surgery. Our vets can perform open spays if requested by pet owners.

Laparoscopic spay is the preferred method at Amber Vet for female cats. This minimally invasive technique uses small incisions and a camera to carefully remove the ovaries, resulting in smaller wounds, less pain, and a faster recovery compared to traditional methods. Laparoscopic spaying allows for minimal discomfort, helping your cat get back to normal activities sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions

We treat a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and small animals such as rabbits. Our experienced team is equipped to handle a wide range of health needs for different species.

Spaying is the surgical procedure to remove the ovaries and uterus in female pets, while neutering is the removal of the testicles in male pets. Both procedures prevent reproduction and offer health and behavioral benefits.

Keyhole surgery involves smaller incisions, which lead to quicker recovery times, less post-operative pain, and minimal scarring. This advanced technique is particularly beneficial for spaying and treating undescended testicles.

You can schedule an appointment by calling us at +65 6245 5543, sending a WhatsApp message to 9091 5543, or emailing us at enquiry@ambervet.com. Our staff will assist you in finding a convenient time for your visit.

During your pet’s first visit, we will conduct a thorough health examination, discuss any concerns you have, and create a customized health plan tailored to your pet’s needs. This is also an opportunity to get to know our team and facilities.

Yes, we offer emergency and critical care services to address urgent health issues. Our team is equipped to handle a wide range of emergencies with expertise and compassion.

Obviously, there would be no unwanted litters once your pet is sterilised. Sterilisation also reduces the possibility of certain undesirable behaviours such as spraying or marking of territories (mostly in male animals) and mating calls (for female cats). Your pet is also less likely to leave the house to look for mates – they may endanger their lives while doing so, such as falling from a high level (especially for cats) or get into traffic accidents. Sterilisation also prevents or reduces certain medical conditions and diseases from arising, such as mammary growths, ovarian or uterine cancer and pyometra (pus build-up in an infected uterus) in females, and enlarged prostates and testicular cancer in males. All of these conditions can be life-threatening.

As the procedure removes the sex hormones, the change can cause appetite to become unregulated and the metabolic rate to decrease. Hence, some sterilised pets have the tendency to over-eat and gain weight. However, if the amount of food given to your pet and its body weight are closely monitored, weight gain should be almost negligible. A small percentage of sterilised dogs may develop urinary incontinence after sterilisation, more so in female dogs. This does not usually cause a medical problem to the pet, but if it is severe and a problem for the pet owner, medications can be prescribed to control the condition.

Some owners are concerned of behavioural changes after sterilisation. Male dogs with urine marking or humping behaviour, and dogs and cats that are excessively hyperactive or vocal as they are looking for a mate, usually improve with sterilisation. Otherwise, sterilisation rarely results in negative changes in behaviour. Almost all dogs and cats retain their inherent “personality” after sterilisation.

Sterilisation is usually a day surgery and pets can go home the same evening. As anaesthesia is required, there is always a small degree of risk involved. To minimise these risks, pre-anaesthetic blood tests are recommended to ensure that the kidneys and liver are functioning normally to clear the anaesthetic agents from the body, and your veterinarian should practise a high level of anaesthetic monitoring of your pet’s vital signs during surgery. This ensures that in the low chance that there is any impending danger to the pet’s safety, changes in the vital signs will be detected, and appropriate actions will be taken to keep the pet safe. Younger animals are usually better candidates for anaesthesia because they are able to clear the anaesthetic drugs from their system swiftly. While older animals can undergo sterilisation and other surgical procedures, more care must be taken prior to, during and after the procedure to ensure their utmost safety.

Spaying (Females)

An incision is made on the midline of the abdomen. The incision length may range from 3cm to about 15cm in length, depending on the size of the animal. Major parts of the reproductive tract (ovaries and uterus) are then removed surgically. Absorbable stitches are used to close the surgical incision, and suture removal is usually not required.

Neutering (Males)

For cats: A small incision is made on the scrotum and the testicles are removed. No stitches are usually placed as the wound heals very quickly, and stitches may irritate the cat more.

For dogs: A small incision is made just above the scrotum. The testicles are surgically removed from this incision. The wound is stitched with an absorbable suture. No suture removal is usually

required. For all sterilisation procedures, the animal should receive appropriate levels of pain relief medication before, during and after the procedure, ensuring that they recover from the procedure in a pain-free and comfortable manner. The animal usually returns to normal behaviour within one to two days post- surgery, and the wound heals well within one to two weeks.

Many myths and irrational fears about sterilisation still exist amongst pet owners. If you have any questions and concerns about sterilisation, be sure to get them answered by your veterinarian before making a decision on sterilising your pet.

Recently, we were quite distressed by the condition of our 20-year-old community cat, as our previous vet only provided generic responses for the treatment. We decided to focus on giving her a comfortable and good quality of life in her remaining years, and began searching for second opinion. Based on the google reviews and Amber Vet follows up on our case.

With a leap of faith, we travelled from Tampines to the Bedok clinic, and the journey was truly worth it. Dr Alicia and the staff were very attentive and kind towards our community cat. Dr Alicia addressed our concerns professionally and patiently, and even provided a detailed follow-up report after the visit. This helped identify conditions that were previously missed.

Although our dear Princess is a stray cat, we could genuinely feel the care and attention given to her condition. We also deeply appreciate the continued follow-up via WhatsApp to check on her progress.🌿

We’d been to multiple vets in Singapore with our cats persistent sneezing problem. We always left with different medications to try and empty pockets but nothing worked. None of them seemed to be invested in finding or treating the root cause until we met Dr Sharon.

Dr Sharon is incredibly patient and actually listens, asking questions going beyond the usual, and taking all the tests from other clinics into account that led to her suspicion that a tooth was pushing on our cat Duxtons sinus cavity.

It was a gamble without x-rays to confirm but we agreed to treatment over a few weeks which included boosting his vaccinations and having a full blood panel and x-rays the morning of his surgery.

The day of the surgery I was beside myself with worry but the exceptional team were always at the other end of WhatsApp to reassure me. He had quite a rough time at home recovering after having 3 of his canines removed, but again, they were so communicative and genuinely helpful on WhatsApp.

The improvement is clear, and all the anxiety and money was worth it.

We also take our other cat Chippy who became extremely reactive at the vet for the first time (he’s adopted so not much is known about his history) so much so I feared the nurses were going to get hurt! But they simply shrugged it off and prescribed us some medicine to help him with the anxiety when we came back for his annual vaccinations, which went smoothly 😅

We always find Amber Vet a clean, quiet and calm environment who, as best as possible, stick to your actual appointment time which is important if your cats hate waiting. They do not over crowd or cram back to back consultations.

Everyone we’ve met there is wonderful and so friendly, a special thank you to of course Dr Sharon and Naomi.

Thank you Dr Brian, Dr Alicia and the Amber Vet team for looking after Ellie (Golden Retriever). She has recovered beautifully from the laparoscopic spay and wasn't even bothered by the stitches. Her teeth look great after the dental work. Also very glad we did the hip Xray and know how to better look after her joints. So glad we made the choice to go to your clinic for her procedure.

We have seen Dr. Sharon for a couple of appointments now for 3 of my family’s cats pertaining to wounds, ringworm, overall health check-ups and annual vaccinations. Every visit, Dr. Sharon is very friendly and gentle. She never fail to let the cats get used to the environment before approaching them, making it a more comfortable experience for the cats without causing additional stress. Dr. Sharon is also very patient when explaining the causes, observations, results and treatment plan going forward, I appreciate the reassurance. Would highly recommend Dr. Sharon at Amber Vet. Definitely a very cat-friendly vet and environment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've been bringing my pets to Amber Vet for more than 10 years and they are definitely my most trusted vet clinic. Their facility is very clean, cozy and peaceful, but I feel what sets them apart from other clinics is that you never feel like you're just another patient on the carousel. Every visit is a warm and personable experience.

Dr Loon was my attending vet, and despite my pet's many ailments, under Dr Loon's meticulous care, he lived to a very good age of 17. Milou's final moments was also at Amber, and I would personally like to thank Dr Suria, Melissa, and the other nurses who went out of their way to make him comfortable at the end. Everything was handled with so much sensitivity and love and I would like to extend my most heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the whole team.

I recently brought my new kitten there for vaccinations, and he was handled by Dr Sharon. She is very detailed and careful, and even for a routine procedure like kitten vax, they will send a follow up message the next day to check in on the pet's condition.

I will always recommend Amber Vet for anyone looking for a trusted and compassionate veterinary clinic.

Dr. Loon has been Honey's vet since 2021! From simple visits for preventive care to more complex ones for echocardiograms, a laparoscopic spay, or a dental COHAT, Dr. Loon and all the team members at Amber Vet have never failed to treat her with the utmost care while maintaining an exceptionally high standard of medicine.

To me, what sets Dr. Loon apart is his meticulous attention to detail. Despite Honey having seen several different vets throughout her puppyhood, it was only Dr. Loon who detected her heart murmur. His ability to catch what others missed speaks volumes about his expertise.

I truly believe Dr. Loon is one of Singapore's premier practitioners, armed with more than a decade of experience and a perfectionistic tendency - trust that your furry family member will be in good hands at Amber.

Honey says thanks for helping her live her happiest, healthiest life!

It is with deep appreciation that I write this letter of recommendation for Amber Vet, and in particular Dr. Loon and Dr. Elise who have been an integral part of my sweet boy Casper for the past 14 years.
Throughout the years, Amber Vet has provided consistent, high-quality care —from routine checkups and preventive treatments to moments of urgent need. Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication have never wavered.
Over the past two years Casper was diagnosed with nasal cancer, a journey that has been emotionally and medically challenging. Throughout this time, Dr. Loon and Dr. Elise have shown exceptional medical expertise, thoughtful treatment planning, and compassion. They have walked closely with me every step of the way—patiently explaining options, adjusting care as needed.
The support staff is equally impressive —friendly, organised and always ready to lend a hand.
What stands out most about Amber Vet is not just their clinical excellence, but the genuine kindness and empathy shown by everyone on their team.
More importantly, I know that Casper receives care that is both medically sound and emotionally attuned.
I am deeply grateful for the years of care Amber Vet has provided and continue to provide. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking outstanding veterinary support from professionals who truly care.

A Lifesaver for Our Cat, Tigi – Our Deepest Gratitude to Dr. Elise

We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Elise for the exceptional care and expertise she has given to our cat, Tigi. Since she was 6 months old, Tigi had been suffering from recurring bacterial and yeast infections in her ears. She was constantly scratching, which led to torn skin and the need to wear a cone for extended periods. Over time, her condition worsened—she developed crusty eyes and experienced increasing discomfort. Despite seeing multiple vets over seven months and making various dietary changes, we were unable to find the root cause of her issues.

That changed when we came across Dr. Elise, a feline specialist who visits Singapore quarterly. From the start, Dr. Elise took a thorough and compassionate approach. She performed an endoscopy and was the first to diagnose Tigi with Proliferative and Necrotizing Otitis Externa (PNOE)—a rare, immune-mediated skin disease affecting the ears, linked to an overactive immune response.

For the past year and a half, Dr. Elise has overseen Tigi’s care, monitoring her progress closely. Even when she's abroad, she stays in touch through regular updates from Amber Vet. Under her guidance, Tigi has made remarkable improvement, and her medication has now been successfully tapered down to alternate days.

I brought my 2-year-old dog to Dr. Loon for a keyhole laparoscopic spay and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. I had been reluctant to spay her after a not-so-great experience with my other dog, who had a traditional spay at another clinic and struggled with poor wound healing. She also has a heart murmur so I was worried about her risk under GA, but Dr Loon was very thorough and reassuring, performing a detailed heart ultrasound to ensure her heart function was ok before proceeding with surgery.

The keyhole spay was a total game changer — the recovery was so much quicker and she was so active and normal immediately lost-surgery. Best of all, there’s no visible scar at all once the tiny wounds healed!

We also did a dental procedure at the same time so she wouldn’t need to be under anaesthesia again later. I was really impressed that they use dental x-rays just like at a human dentist. They were able to identify a tooth that looked completely normal on the outside but was actually starting to crack under the gumline causing her discomfort — something we’d never have known without the x-ray.

Huge thanks to Dr. Loon and the team for their excellent care and expertise. Highly recommend!

I have two dogs, and with my older one now 4 years old, I’ve been to my fair share of vet clinics over the years. But this was my younger dog Salmon’s very first vet visit — and honestly, Amber Vet blew me away. I ended up here by chance (and referral from a neighbour) because our regular vet wasn’t available, but I’m so glad we did.

I didn’t specify any doctor but was so lucky to be assigned to Dr. Sharon Choy and team — Dr Choy was incredibly gentle, patient, and unbelievably sweet with Salmon. You could just feel how much she cared.

The entire team of receptionist and vet techs were absolute angels too — kind, thoughtful, genuinely sweet, and really went beyond to make Salmon feel safe and loved. They even came out after the appointment just to say goodbye and give her cuddles! It completely melted my heart.

Everything from the diagnosis to the communication was clear and professional. They even followed up post-visit to check in on how Salmon was recovering, which I found so thoughtful and rare these days.

As for pricing, it’s hard to compare exact market rates, but I was pleasantly surprised. The charges all itemized, transparent, and fair considering the number of tests and services included. Honestly, it’s worth every cent for the level of care they provide.

I’m just really, really grateful to have stumbled upon this clinic. They turned what could be a stressful visit into something genuinely heartwarming. Everything felt thorough, yet comforting.

Would absolutely recommend Amber Vet to anyone looking for compassionate, professional Vet care.

Thank you to the whole team for making Salmon’s first vet experience such a positive and loving one. You’ve definitely gained a loyal client.

My 5.5 year old dog had his teeth cleaned and ears scoped under general anaesthetic by Dr. Loon. It was a safe and smooth procedure. His teeth were evaluated, cleaned and treated. He suffers from chronic ear infections due to allergies, under scope, Dr Loon cleaned his ears, cultured the bacteria and dispensed effective treatment.

For paw-rents unsure of putting your fur babies under general anaesthetic for dental or ear work, my experience has been positive and I can highly recommend Dr Loon and Amber Vet for this!

We moved to the east coast 2 years ago and as a result needed to find a new vet for our two dogs; we are so lucky to have easy access to Amber Vet for their care.

Dr Sharon and the team are always super friendly and the 2 pups are always excited to see them and have little concerns for the nail clippings (which has always been an issue for these sensitive souls)

The team at Amber Vet has some of the kindest, most compassionate people I’ve ever met. They genuinely care for their patients, and it shows in every interaction.

It’s the only clinic where my furkid actually feels at ease. He never gets anxious here, which says a lot! The staff are incredibly friendly, kind, and meticulous. Special shoutout to Dr Sharon and her amaaazing team, especially Melissa, Naomi and Hao Yang, who are always warm, bubbly, and so passionate about what they do. They consistently go the extra mile, sending thoughtful follow-ups and detailed notes that really help put me at ease.

The team is also super responsive, proactive and easy to communicate with.

If you’ve been searching for a vet clinic that truly cares, this is the one. Can’t recommend Amber Vet enough. Thank you for the love and care you show to your patients 💕

We have been going to Amber Vet from the time we got Toby, our little lowchen. He is now close to 3 🙂 he enjoys the calm environment of the clinic and never hesitates to get right in. Dr Loon is attentive and kind, and genuinely cares for the patient. He gives the right amount of time and gives us good advice on how to care for Tobs. We love our experience with him and Dr Sharon too!

We can’t thank the amazing team at Amber Vet enough — especially Dr. Brian Loon — for the exceptional care they’ve provided for our newly adopted 8-year-old Maltese.

From our first visit a couple of weeks ago, we were genuinely impressed by the thorough and comprehensive health check the team conducted. We had requested a full assessment for our senior dog, and what we received went far beyond our expectations. The level of detail and the range of investigations performed gave us peace of mind and helped us avoid potential health complications down the line — because truly, prevention is better (and more affordable) than cure.

As a family that has adopted and fostered many dogs over the years, we’ve been to numerous vets — but none have matched Amber Vet’s advanced medical setup. It’s almost like a mini hospital for pets, which means we don’t have to travel between different clinics for diagnostics or procedures. It’s all available in-house, which is incredibly convenient and reassuring.

During the initial check-up, our dog presented with a heart murmur, and we were promptly scheduled for a heart ultrasound right there at the clinic. After assessment, medication was prescribed to manage the heart condition — all explained clearly and with such care.

Today, our dog underwent teeth extraction, dental cleaning, and a lump removal under general anaesthesia. The team kept us updated throughout the day with calls and WhatsApp messages, which we truly appreciated — it helped ease our anxiety and showed how much they care.

The clinic is also immaculately clean, and we love that there’s a separate unit for cats, which helps reduce stress for both feline and canine patients. We also learned so much about preventive care and the latest in pet healthcare — insights we hadn’t come across in our visits to other clinics.

Another thoughtful touch: invoices are sent via email, along with detailed notes from the vet summarising the visit and sharing helpful tips discussed during the consultation — a fantastic way to keep track of care plans and advice.

Thank you again to Dr. Brian Loon and the entire Amber Vet team for your professionalism, kindness, and dedication. We feel lucky to have found you!

Before finding Amber Vet, I had taken my 11-year-old toy poodle to three different veterinary clinics—none of which were competent enough to accurately diagnose his condition. The previous vets seemed to rely on textbook guesses or generic online searches, tossing around speculative diagnoses without truly understanding what was going on.

From the moment I made a cold call to Amber Vet, I knew I was finally in the right hands. The staff asked thoughtful, critical questions, and despite it being the very end of the day, they kindly slotted us in for a last-minute appointment. That level of care and responsiveness already set them apart.

Dr. Suria was exceptional. She listened attentively to everything I shared, clearly explained each test she was performing and the reasons behind them, and most importantly she was precise and focused in her approach. Unlike other clinics that kept recommending endless tests, she was deliberate and confident in her diagnosis. For the first time, I felt like someone truly understood what was happening with my dog, and that brought me real peace of mind.

Ms. Aarin, an outstanding nurse who was there throughout the consultation. She was so gentle with my dog, and her calm presence helped me stay grounded and fully focused on explaining everything that had been going wrong.

Amber Vet is a rare gem. Every staff member we interacted with showed not just professionalism, but genuine care. The team is an apt embodiment of duty of care towards your pet. It’s only been two days since the visit, and I’m already seeing a significant improvement in my dog’s condition.

I’m truly grateful to have found this clinic—and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants real expertise and heartfelt care for their pet.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Amber Vet and Dr. Loon! Our 7-year-old beagle, Dolly, has been under their care, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

Dr. Loon and his team are truly amazing—professional, compassionate, and incredibly skilled. From the moment we walk in, Dolly is treated like family, and it’s clear that her well-being is their top priority. Dr. Loon’s expertise put us at ease, and his genuine kindness made every visit a pleasure. The entire team goes above and beyond, providing top-notch care with a personal touch that’s hard to find.

If you’re looking for a vet who combines brilliance with heart, Amber Vet is the place to go. Dolly gives them two enthusiastic paws up, and so do we!

Amber Vet is an outstanding veterinary practice. All the staff are genuinely caring and thoughtfully invested in the welfare of their patients. We have never encountered someone there who didn't embody this ethos - even their locum vet is lovely. The atmosphere of the practice is calm, caring, clean and competent. They remember who we are and check up on us after our visits.

The nursing staff are not only welcoming and caring but they are highly efficient and capable. Communicating with Naomi and Melissa and the team is easy via phone or WhatsApp. Making requests and discussing care is straightforward and conclusive. You can ask a question and get a response on the same day. The nurses all remember our dog, and I can tell he is less fearful coming here. He can pick up on the vibe that the staff are genuinely happy to see him.

We travel to go to Amber Vet, having not found satisfaction with the (multiple) vets in our more local area. Our dog has a complex, rare illness for which there is almost no expertise in Singapore, meaning we must work closely with our dog's vet here in Singapore and a vet in the USA to ensure we are doing the right thing for him.
The volume of diagnostic information, research and hospital visits that has gone into treating our dog is monumental. We found that trying to share this information with vets and get them up to speed was virtually impossible. They simply didn't have the capacity nor the willingness to invest that level of time and commitment into understanding our dog's very specific needs.

Coming to Amber Vet was the best decision. Dr Loon looked through the information, took the time to fully understand our situation, and even had a phone call with the other vet in the USA. It is a special sort of professional who proactively works with with others, rather than insisting they know everything. We are so grateful that he took the time to do this. I can tell when we go to see him that he is taking his time listening to our dog's heart and lungs and checking him over, and he has added significant clinical and advisory value to the ongoing care of our dog, making tailored and specific recommendations to keep him whole body healthy, rather than just focusing on this illness.

Amber Vet has worked with us to take samples of blood and ship them for specialised testing elsewhere, meaning they have to work with couriers and data from 3rd party laboratory services, and, despite this being unusual and outside their norms, they work with us for the good of our dog.

The exceptional level of tailored, considerate, pragmatic, patient-centred care is just what we need to help us through an emotionally traumatic time. We feel like we have a team in our corner. The result is that we trust and appreciate the care from all the team at Amber Vet and would not want to go anywhere else. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

I brought my rabbit to AmberVet due to a loss of appetite and had a great experience. Booking an appointment was smooth, and the process was very efficient. The vet was knowledgeable and thorough in her check-up, ensuring there was nothing serious. She explained that the recent weather changes might be affecting my rabbit’s appetite and provided helpful supplements. She also advised me on keeping my rabbit’s environment cool and comfortable. Overall, she was very accommodating and made sure my rabbit got the best care. Highly recommended!

The vet and staff are super friendly and really pay attention to the animals. They genuinely care and take their time with each patient. It’s usually not too busy on weekdays, so the whole experience feels calm and stress-free for my dog. Plus, the staff helped with giving medications, which was a huge help! Also there are a few pet friendly cafes nearby.

had a positive experience at ambervet, tldr my pet had some dental issues and requires extraction. But amber vet offers more dental services, in this case they used a special treatment called synergy a synthetic bone graft powder that has a chance of regrowing bone loss and filling periodontal pockets. Hopefully all is well for my pet at least for the short term will have to do a review in 6 to 9 months, overall a good vet maybe slightly pricey but they have a niche which warrants the price.

Do consider for a consult if you want a potential alternative to extractions.

This is probably one of the best vet clinics that we have visited so far. Our dogs (Boy boy & Girl girl) used to be under the care of Dr Emma and then Dr Loon after she left.

When we first visited Amber Vet, we could see that our dogs are more comfortable with the place as compared to other clinics. That really speaks something which is why we didn't really mind travelling all the way from Bishan to Siglap for all the appointments or replenishment of medication over the years. The last few years were not easy for Boy boy & Girl girl but you guys really made it much easier for us.

Now that Boy boy & Girl girl are on the other side of the rainbow bridge, we just want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Amber Vet especially Dr Loon, Dr Emma and Melissa for your great service and attentive care all the time!

We wish you guys the best and will definitely recommend Amber Vet and Dr Loon to others. Thank you so much!

I'm so glad that a cat friendly vet has opened up! My cat Jenny is afraid of everything and it's almost impossible taking her to the vet. Although still petrified, Jenny was much calmer and Dr. Loon and the team at Amber Cat Vet really took a lot of care in ensuring she felt comfortable.

We've had so many problems with Jenny's diet and with the new cat food food, new ideas of feeding and entertainment, we're really seeing a difference.

I can't recommend Amber Cat Vet more, especially for nervous cats! 🙂
