Digital radiography (X-rays) using CCD imaging processing technology
Radiography is useful for the assessment of internal organs in the chest and abdomen as well as bones of the skull, spine and legs. Using digital imaging allows fewer retakes of x-rays and a reduction in radiation doses used.

Diagnostic ultrasound
Allows for a non-invasive detailed assessment of abdominal and heart structures, pregnancy diagnosis, as well as aid in fine needle aspirates and biopsies of organs/masses, such as those in the abdomen.

Endoscopy involves using special flexible or rigid "tubes" with a digital camera and light source to non-invasively examine various parts of the body, including the gastrointestinal tract (e.g. oesophagus, stomach, intestines, colon), urinary tract (e.g. bladder), ears, nasal cavity, etc. Endoscopy is commonly performed in these areas to diagnose growths and tumours, inflammatory disease, remove foreign bodies and obtain biopsy samples. Otoscopy (endoscopy of the ear) is also essential in all animals with chronic ear infections to thoroughly flush out the ear canal, remove any foreign material that may be causing infection, and examine the outer and middle ear for signs of disease. Endoscopy can also be used for laparoscopy, where minimally invasive surgeries such as spays are performed using tiny incisions.

Endoscopy is also available for rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas for evaluating dental and aural (ear) conditions. Find out more here.

* When chest radiographs and/or an abdominal ultrasound are performed with the AmberCare Wellness Plans, the internal organs (such as the lungs, heart, liver, kidney, etc) are thoroughly assessed for any abnormal growths or structural changes that may not be detectable on an external examination. Early detection can then lead to better management or cure of particular areas of concern.
